Meet New NSSA Executive Secretary Colleen Smiley

Colleen Smiley started work as the NSSA's new Executive Secretary on September 7th. Smiley is assisting NSSA Executive Director Dave Goren in all facets of the NSSA, from administrative duties to fund raising and marketing. She is an experienced grant writer and plans to use that experience to help NSSA raise money.

Smiley is the mother of two daughters and lives in NSSA's hometown of Salisbury, NC.  She can be reached at (704) 633-4275 ext. 2. Please take a moment to call and welcome Colleen to the NSSA family.

Online Nominations For 2010 NSSA Awards Begin October 15th
  
If you need to renew your NSSA membership, now would be a great time to do so.  Nominations for the 2010 NSSA Awards open October 15th at nssafame.com. And only those who are paid NSSA full members may participate in the nominating process (and the final voting which will take place beginning December 1st). If you're unsure about your membership status, please email or call us at the NSSA office.

Have you thought about which people you'll nominate yet? Are there standouts in sportscasting and sportswriting in your state who you think deserve to be recognized for their excellence or achievements since last October? Among national sportscasters and sportswriters, who do you think is THE best? And who are the best of the best who belong in the NSSA Hall of Fame?

And remember, there are plenty of categories to choose from. Sportscasters include anyone who appears on radio, television or the internet, whether doing play-by-play, color, anchoring, a talk show, a magazine show, or providing any kind of spoken word dealing with sports. Among sportswriters, those in print and online should be considered, as long as they deliver consistent excellence.

All things to think about over the next six weeks, as we embark on our annual nominating process.
